Lions are never surprised [a poetic]

On this I do meditate:
Does it surprise you that we arrived together at the lions gate?

Two manes wrapped atop our heads
As we took to stately rest in bed
Yet sleep could not allure
From temptation of experiencing a love so pure
On this I now meditate
Does it surprise you that we arrived together at the lions gate?
Your paws and mine intertwined
As our hips rocked the rhythm divined
For two lovers destined eternal bliss
Reclaiming a heaven we cannot long miss
On this, I meditate:
could it surprise you that we arrived together at the lions gate?

But didn’t we know from an early start
That with permanency we’d reside in each other’s hearts?
That all our movements are looped infinity
Rise, fall, return – like the figure eight?
On this I meditate:
How could anyone be surprised that we’d arrive together at the lions gate?
That each time my gold cotton crown
Tumbles open to let my locs down
It’s your hands that gather them and sweep to side
When I lie on your chest in exuberant peace to reside?
That the ways I, with my body, split and divide
Are made one by yours positioned to pour love inside?
We are history and future
Bound to repeat without adherence to scripture
Save for one we’ve found reliant:
Love is always triumphant.
So, as usual, I had the answer all along:
There’s no surprise we arrived together –
“together” is how our hearts will always belong.
